<Text>We are seeking an engaging storyteller with creativity and a passion for communications, marketing, and business development.</Text>
<Text>The Communications and Fundraising Coordinator will share their excitement by bringing creativity, energy and drive to the role, working with the whole team to help us realise our full potential. This includes developing and implementing communication strategies, reaching diverse global audiences online and in person, engaging high-impact partners with our products and services, supporting funding applications, and leading on storytelling that captures the impact of our work.</Text>
<Text>The Communications and Fundraising Coordinator will work across multiple large scale projects funded through the EU Creative Europe and EU Horizon programmes as well as projects funded through government and foundation funds.</Text>
<Text>If you love showcasing great work, are experienced in communications, marketing and promotions within civil society, enjoy working on globally impactful projects, and want to join a dynamic Berlin-based international NGO, you could be a perfect match!</Text>
<Text>As we are a small team, this role requires someone who can work independently even when the stakes are high. <Text><h2>Your Profile</h2></Text>

We build communities' capacity to navigate and shape their collective social, political, and environmental futures within the context of digital transformation. We achieve this through innovative, collaborative, and impactful initiatives that are replicable, scalable, and adaptable.</Text>
<Text>This volunteer position offers a unique insight into the communications process of an international organization, from the strategic phase to operational tasks, as well as strategies around partnerships and the creation of networks of partners worldwide that champion digital and media literacy interventions in their communities. The volunteer will have the opportunity to engage with our different projects in a rotation methodology, ranging from projects focused on enabling critical thinking and digital literacy to projects dedicated to building the capacity of civil society actors on the evolving topics of influence and opinion-making in the digital age.</Text>

<Text><ul><li>A bachelor's degree in Communications, Design, Marketing, or other related fields (e.g., Public Relations, Media Studies, Journalism). <Text><h2>How does it work</h2></Text>
<Text><ul><li>The volunteer placement is for a period of 12 months and can start between August and September.</li><li>Weekly working time: 30-35 hours (typically Monday through Friday; work on weekends can occasionally be required due to events).</li><li>Holiday entitlement: 25 days for the total volunteering period.</li><li>Please note that we would like to host a volunteer in Berlin for the entire duration of the volunteering period.</li><li>Volunteers receive a monthly allowance of 1000,00 EUR for accommodation, livelihood, pocket money, and monthly tickets (if the accommodation is provided from our side, the allowance will be reduced).</li><li>Finding accommodation in Berlin might be challenging. For that reason, it is important for us that you are aware of it. We will support you in your search and provide necessary assistance, but you might need to be flexible about the accommodation.</li><li>Participants have access and are encouraged to take an opportunity to take a German online language course.</li><li>Reimbursement of travel, visa, and insurance costs and support with visa application. <Text>Tactical Tech’s 'Exposing the Invisible' project invites you to join a workshop on how to gather evidence and trace supply chains in the fashion and technology sectors with the help of methods and open data sets provided by the Berlin-based NGO Wikirate. We will learn and explore how combining diverse datasets - such as supplier lists, facility data, and corporate disclosures - can uncover key insights and highlight information gaps. Through practical examples and group discussion, attendees will consider how open data can support accountability and inform their own research, public-interest reporting or advocacy.</Text>

<Text>Calling all journalists, researchers and advocates interested in exploring, investigating and uncovering supply chain data in the fashion and tech sectors!</Text>
<Text>This workshop hosted by Tactical Tech will introduce Wikirate’s open data collection methods and research work on corporate accountability, along with its relevance to transparency and public awareness and engagement. Together, we will explore the data ecosystem of the fashion sector supply chains and related abuses, demonstrating how integrating datasets—such as corporate policies, facility-level data, investigative findings, and supplier lists—can yield powerful insights. Using key figures and examples, we’ll show how this information can be applied in practice, leading to a discussion about how participants might use such data in their own work - whether for journalistic reporting and investigations, policy research or advocacy.</Text>
<Text>The second part of the session will shift focus to technology supply chains. We will highlight existing data gaps and showcase relevant datasets hosted by Wikirate, including examples of crowdsourced data. Challenges—such as the limited availability of tech components supplier lists and the lack of transparency in supplier relationships—will also be discussed.</Text>
<Text>The workshop will conclude with an interactive discussion on the types of data and methods participants need to better understand and address issues in these sectors.</Text>

<Text>Auréliane leads the Accountability Frameworks Program, driving efforts to track how companies respond to transparency and due diligence laws. She organizes crowdsourced open data projects to analyze corporate disclosures and surface patterns in how businesses report on their impacts. To critically assess corporate transparency, she is working on cross-referencing company-reported information with independent data on social and environmental harm. With a background in impact evaluation, human rights, and social anthropology, Auréliane is driven by a passion for empowering civil society organizations working toward a regenerative economy.</Text>
<Text>Lucía Ixtacuy, Community and Outreach Coordinator, Wikirate</Text>
<Text>Lucía is a public policy professional based in Berlin, with a strong background in open data and information accessibility. Since 2018, she has played a key role at Wikirate, where she has led initiatives assessing corporate compliance with human rights reporting laws. As Community and Outreach Coordinator, Lucía has expanded Wikirate’s academic partnerships and cultivated a dynamic, engaged contributor community. She is passionate about empowering individuals and communities through participatory processes and collaborative data-driven projects.</Text>

<Text>What the Future Wants (WTFW) – Comes to Berlin is a year-long project aimed at training Berlin-based organizations—such as schools, libraries, cultural centers, and youth-led or youth-focused organizations— and individuals working with teens aged 13-18, particularly those from marginalized backgrounds, using Tactical Tech's digital literacy resources. The project is co-funded by Deutsche Postcode Lotterie.</Text>

[Open Call for Partnerships] Organisations in Berlin Working with Youth

<Text>The <a href="https://theglassroom.org/youth/" title="https\://theglassroom.org/youth/">What the Future Wants</a> project is looking for facilitators of a training-of-trainers (ToT) for youth workers and educators which will be delivered in-person in Berlin, in the German language.</Text>
<Text>The ToT will be for Berlin-based partners who are affiliated with youth-focused organizations, especially those working with young people from traditionally marginalized identities or backgrounds. The objective of the ToT will be to prepare the partners to host an intervention in their community on the topic of digital literacy. This project is funded by the Deutsche Postcode Lotterie.</Text>
<Text>The facilitators will work closely together with our What the Future Wants project team from October to December 2024. The position is limited in duration, and depending on the budget it is estimated that there will be no more than 50 total hours of work per facilitator. The common working language of the What the Future Wants team is English.</Text>
<Text>Content and planning / organising support for the ToT workshops will be provided by Tactical Tech. The educational curricula and workshops we will use in the ToTs are developed by the What the Future Wants team.</Text>

<Text><ul><li>Onboarding and training into the What the Future Wants project and methodology. </li><li>Communicate with our team members about reviewing, feedbacking, and implementing ToT workshop materials addressing participants' needs. It is possible to adapt and adjust the ToT materials if that is discussed and agreed upon together in advance.</li><li>Localize English ToT materials into German: this may include outlines, slides, guidebook, surveys, and handouts, etc.</li><li>Co-lead and co-facilitate hands-on ToT with a number of approximately 15-25 participants. (approximately 8-16 facilitation hours)</li><li>Apply best practices in facilitation and safeguarding.</li><li>Debrief after the ToT to reflect upon the experience. </li></ul></Text>
<Text><h2>Required Skills &#x26; Qualifications</h2></Text>
<Text><ul><li>At least 5 years of working experience, including roles as a facilitator and/or trainer.</li><li>Demonstrated experience working with diverse audiences both in terms of profession, gender, ethnicity, geography, etc. and in terms of levels of training experience.</li><li>Experience with adult education and adult learning practices.</li><li>Excellent active listening skills.</li><li>Excellent written and spoken communication skills, including patience and the ability to effectively convey technical information to non-technical audiences.</li><li>Very good speaking / listening / writing skills in English.</li><li>Excellent fluency speaking / listening / writing skills in German.</li><li>Adaptability and flexibility when working as part of a team and as a training facilitator, ability to swiftly adjust to participants’ needs.</li><li>Experience conducting ToT with civil society actors is a plus but not a must.</li><li>Reliability is a must.</li></ul></Text>

<Text>This volunteer position offers a unique insight into the communications process of an international organization, from the strategic phase to operational tasks, as well as strategies around partnerships and the creation of networks of partners worldwide that champion digital and media literacy interventions in their communities. The volunteer will have the opportunity to engage with our different projects in a rotation methodology, ranging from projects focused on enabling critical thinking and digital literacy to projects dedicated to building the capacity of civil society actors on the evolving topics of influence and opinion-making in the digital age.</Text>

Tactical Tech is an international NGO that engages with citizens and civil-society organizations to explore and mitigate the impacts of technology on society. Through different projects, especially  What The Future Wants, Tactical Tech — aims to put young people in the driving seat of their digital futures through education, co-creation and capacity building.
We collaborate with partners working with young people to host events, adapt materials, co-create, translate resources (and much more!) —and now we are seeking partners again!  We are inviting organisations that work with youth across Europe to apply to partner with us in a new initiative in the context of a 2-year project, funded by the EU Creative Europe Program (CREA), called the Media Literacy Case for Educators. In particular, we are looking for organisations and cultural centres that already work with youth on topics related to media and digital literacy.
Partnership goals:
We would like to connect with organisations that work with youth ages 13-19 across Europe, in order to help build their capacity and to further develop media and digital literacy materials with their help and expertise, together with their audiences. To do so, we are seeking partners who can join us in the following ways:

<li>Join a network of organisations working with media and digital literacy across Europe.</li>
<li>Recruit participants for, host and co-facilitate co-development sessions with local participants, alongside Tactical Tech, between March-May 2023.</li>
<li>Participate in training-of-trainers sessions in 2024 that will be based on the materials developed through this project.</li>
</ol>

<a href="https://tacticaltech.org/news/youth-co-creation-findings">Co-development sessions</a> are a methodology that Tactical Tech uses to develop media and digital literacy resources by engaging different target audiences in the themes we want to educate them about. In these co-development sessions, media-related issues important to youth and adults will be discussed, such as political influence and opinion-making, how influencers work, and making sense of big news cycles. In addition, these sessions involve discussing what resources young people need to bring media literacy topics to adults, such as their relatives, as well as what support adults need.  
As part of this project, organisations  working with youth will be trained to implement our co-development format. The organisations will be responsible for inviting and co-facilitating the sessions with participants who they recruit to join the sessions. The participants should be “youth” (ages 13 to 19).
There will be a published report and analysis of the findings from the sessions and the insights and outcomes from the co-development sessions will be the basis for creating new resources for the Medial Literacy Case for Educators, which will be distributed to librarians, educators, schools and cultural centres across Europe.
Who can apply?
In order to be eligible for this partnership call, applicants must meet all of the below criteria:

<li>Work on the broader topic of digital and media literacy.</li>

Literacy Initiatives for Youth across Europe

Tactical Tech is an international NGO, with an office in Berlin, working to investigate the impact of digital technologies on society. We seek an experienced researcher who has a good understanding of digital and media literacy to work with us on a limited-time consultancy contract in order to gather and distil the latest research in the field of digital media literacy education. 
The Researcher will be expected to:
<ul>
<li>Conduct a literature review of the most up-to-date research and publications on the efficacy of different methods of media literacy in public education for youth. For this, the Researcher is expected to also compile an annotated bibliography.</li>
<li>Compile and review existing educational resources, methods, formats and promising practices related to digital and media literacy for youth, as well as resources related to inter-generational education..</li>
<li>Write an interim report:</li>

- Summarizing the initial key findings and recommendations);
- Including the interim annotated bibliography;
- Including the compilation of existing resources, formats and promising practices;
- Present this interim report in a meeting which includes key stakeholders at Tactical Tech (online).

Due to overlapping and rapid requirements of the initiative, we ask that the Researcher split their work into phases, to better inform our team at various points of the research work:

<li>Phase 1 (20th February to 6th March): This phase covers the first 2 weeks of the consultancy (30% of the agreed time). Here you will begin the work of conducting a literature review and compiling existing resources. At the end of the 2 weeks, you will submit a written interim report which you will also present online to Tactical Tech.</li>
<li>Phase 2 (6th March to 1st April): This phase lasts up to an additional 2 months after Phase 1 (to be agreed upon between Consultant and Tactical Tech- 70% of the agreed time). During this period, the Researcher will dive deeper into the literature review and compiling of further existing resources. At the end of this final phase, the Researcher will submit a written final report which you will also present (online or in-person) to Tactical Tech.</li>

inter-generational audiences

Job Description
The <a href="https://theglassroom.org/youth/" title="https\://theglassroom.org/youth/">What the Future Wants</a> project is looking for a Safeguarding Expert with experience working with young people (11-18 years old) for a limited duration consultancy. The Safeguarding Expert will conduct a short training session for Tactical Tech staff and partners and draft written guidelines for safeguarding practices to be implemented when working with young people worldwide and the world.
The What the Future Wants Team works with partners from across the globe to make its resources available and adapted to young people, youth organisations and educators from different contexts, and it is crucial that all ensure the safety, privacy and well-being of all young people participating in the activities conducted in the framework of the project, both online and in-person.
 Deliverables:
<ul>
<li>Conduct training(s) focused on the safeguarding of young people (11-18 years old) when developing, implementing and disseminating educational materials and activities related to digital literacy (e.g. data privacy, digital security, digital wellbeing) such as those in the <a href="https://theglassroom.org/en/what-the-future-wants/" title="https\://theglassroom.org/en/what-the-future-wants/">What the Future Wants exhibit</a> and <a href="https://datadetoxkit.org/en/families/datadetox-x-youth/" title="https\://datadetoxkit.org/en/families/datadetox-x-youth/">Data Detox x Youth</a>. We would like to record these trainings for future usage internally with Tactical Tech staff as well as externally with our global partners.</li>
<li>Create written guidelines that could be followed by Tactical Tech and its global partners in relation to privacy, safety, and wellbeing when working with young people and when developing educational materials and activities for young people in various global regions and socio-economic situations, including vulnerable groups.</li>
<li>Review the existing Code of Conduct and provide feedback and suggestions for improvements.</li>
</ul>
At the end of this consultancy, we expect the What the Future Wants and Tactical Tech teams to be equipped with relevant knowledge to ensure safeguarding of young people involved in the educational activities conducted in the framework of our projects. Additionally, we expect to improve the ability of the What the Future Wants team to provide clearer guidelines for partners and support them to take concrete measures to ensure full compliance with the existing Code of Conduct.
The consultant will work closely with the What the Future Wants team at Tactical Tech.
Criteria for selection

Tactical Tech is looking for engaged, outgoing exhibition hosts to assist in an outdoor, public exhibition about technology and crisis entitled “Everything Will Be Fine.” The exhibition takes place in a temporary, open-air structure outside the Museum of Technology in Berlin from 14 September - 4 October 2022. The ideal candidates should be interested in the exhibition’s subject matter and must be able to attend on-site training prior to the event (between 7 - 13 September), communicate comfortably both in German and English, be based in Berlin during the dates of the event and be available for shift work during the period of the exhibition’s for 4.5-hour shifts between 10 am and 10 pm daily.
<h3>About the public Intervention</h3>
“Everything will be fine" is an outdoor exhibition by the international NGO Tactical Tech, co-produced with the HAU Hebbel am Ufer.
This public intervention aims to start a conversation and invite people to think about the role technology plays in how we perceive, understand and respond to global environmental, political, economic and social crises. Everything Will Be Fine takes the visitors on a journey through different sections that incorporate artwork from international artists and educational and interactive spaces.
The role of the exhibition hosts will be to engage members of the public and visitors who enter the exhibition by giving them an orientation to the topics of the exhibition – including the spread of misinformation about the climate crisis, the role technology plays in influencing our opinions, the technological solutions to crisis – guiding them through the exhibition content, giving them practical tips, and to point them toward supplementary content in a corresponding virtual exhibition.
To ensure that the intervention is accessible to a broad audience including passers-by, the exhibition will be free of charge and accessible around the clock. An accompanying programme of workshops, film screenings and tours will encourage further audience participation and discussion.
<h3>Your responsibilities will include:</h3>

<li>Complete provided training (on-site) – approximately 12 hrs of training between 7 - 13 September</li>
<li>Be available at least 2 days per week during the exhibition for shift work (14 September - 4 October) - each shift is between 4-4.5 hrs from 10:00 - 22:00</li>

Your role:
We are looking for an engaged Grants and Fundraising Coordinator with strong organisational and interpersonal skills, committed to a non-profit cause to coordinate grant management, ensuring adherence to contracted work plans and log-frames across grants. In this role, the coordinator will play a central role in collaborating with internal project teams as well as external partnership consortia for project proposal submissions and reporting.
The Grants and Fundraising Coordinator will work closely with the Development Director to support our donor relations and have an oversight of upcoming fundraising calls and awarded grants and will collaborate with the Communications and Fundraising Manager, who has oversight of monitoring, evaluation and impact analysis, for grant reporting.
Key responsibilities
Grant Management and compliance

Competencies required for this role

Road map for the role:
In the first month, you will have an understanding of Tactical Tech’s projects and related grants and have started building relationships with the team. You will start understanding the different components of your role.

You will have contributed towards grant reporting and understand the expectation of the role as you grow further. You will have established good working relationships with key project staff.
After six months, you will have established a smooth workflow, in your role of fundraising and grants management and have absolute clarity on your responsibilities. You will have started to co-coordinate grant reports and possibly fundraising proposals with the teams. You identified areas for improvement to which you contribute and bring your own experience and knowledge to the department.
After 1 year, you will be fully at ease in your role as Grant and Fundraising Coordinator and will have started to look at your impact beyond immediate tasks, e.g. in terms of knowledge capture or process optimization, contribution to the overall strategy and direction. There are also numerous online and in-person workshop materials based on the guides. The past years have focused on localizing and expanding resources, which are now available in 36 languages.
Partnership goals:
We would like to connect with new partners in SWANAregions, in order to help build their capacity and to further develop materials with their help and expertise. To do so, we are seeking partners who are interested in the following areas:

This volunteer position offers a unique insight into the production of online and offline cultural interventions, especially in relation to the Glass Room project – providing resources and materials to partners globally, supporting an outdoor exhibition in Berlin, developing learning assets and workshops around data literacy, as well as supporting partners globally in organising events for their communities.

How does it work

<li><a href="https://tacticaltech.org/projects/youth">What the Future Wants</a> is Tactical Tech's youth initiative which engages young people, parents and educators with the biggest questions facing our digital environment now and in the future, using critical thinking skills and data literacy knowledge to set the agenda for a positive and participatory digital future. <h2>Partnership goals:</h2>
We would like to connect with partners, in order to help build their capacity and to further develop materials with their help and expertise. To do so, we are seeking partners who are interested in the following areas:
<ul>
<li>Run workshops (using our existing curricula, or by creating new curricula)</li>
<li>Train other trainers (e.g. educators, librarians, peer-to-peers) about critical digital literacy methods</li>
<li>Organize events (e.g. the Glass Room or What the Future Wants exhibitions)</li>
<li>Outreach/distribute existing materials</li>
<li>Feedback, input on, testing of existing materials</li>
<li>Create something new based on our resources (e.g. translation, adaptation, research, podcasts, videos, games, etc.)</li>
<li>Explore methods of co-creating materials (e.g. with young people)</li>
</ul>
Activities would need to take place between February and June 2023; final activity reports will be due no later than 15th June 2023.
<h2>Who can apply?</h2>
In order to be eligible for this partnership call, individuals, organizations, or collectives must meet all of the below criteria:
<ul>
<li>Work on the broader topic of digital and media literacy.</li>
<li>Be currently working in at least one of the following regions: Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA), Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC), South-West Asia and North Africa (SWANA), Asia, the Pacific Islands, and Eastern Europe</li>
<li>Have access to an existing network of other local and/or national organizations and initiatives.</li>
<li>Be able to join online sessions with other partners (at the beginning, middle, and end of the partnership period).</li>
<li>Have the capacity to carry out these activities by June 2023.</li>
<li>Ability to report on activities by 15th June 2023.</li>
</ul>

Continued developments in digital technologies have given rise to a new political modus operandi. Politically active groups around the globe are using tools and techniques from data-driven marketing, behavioural psychology, and digital campaign consultants to advance their agendas, promote their campaigns and influence voters. The Data and Politics project aims to engage key stakeholders - from election monitors to voters - in understanding which political entities are using what types of data, how their various methods work, and how they are affecting political structures worldwide.

Tactical Tech is offering an internship position for a student or a junior professional looking to engage with an international cultural project and/or complete their obligatory student internship (Praktikum).
This internship position offers a unique insight into the production of online and offline cultural interventions internationally, with a specific focus on the process of translation, contextualisation and outreach. The intern will assist Tactical Tech’s Glass Room project in the process of preparing materials and supporting partners globally in organising events for their communities.
This is a great opportunity to work with highly engaged international partners and gain an insight into an innovative project that aims at explaining to a wider public the challenges and risks of technology.
<a href="http://www.theglassroom.org/">The Glass Room</a> is an immersive exhibition on technology, data and privacy that has been visited by 230,000 people worldwide.
It has been adapted to a number of formats: a large stand-alone exhibition that has appeared in San Francisco, London, New York and Berlin; and a smaller curated exhibition for major galleries, museums and festivals.
We have also set up The Glass Room Community Edition, a set of visualisations and digital assets that can be produced at scale so that event organisers, communities and organisations throughout the world can host their own exhibition. In 2019, over 60 exhibitions were hosted in 38 countries across the globe.
<h4>Your daily responsibilities will include</h4>

<li>Working with various Tactical Tech projects on coordination of translation materials</li>

How information flows and how influence and opinion are formed is substantively affected by digital technologies. Through our work as Tactical Tech we want to build the capacity of civil society actors on the evolving topics of influence and opinion making in the digital age. We research, document and enable critical thinking on how digital influence – beyond the spread of misinformation – impacts democratic processes and freedom of expression.

Our Exposing the Invisible project team is looking for a short-term podcast producer. The ideal candidate will help us develop a concept for and run the implementation of a series of brief inspiring and informative podcasts directed to a wide audience and focused on topics related to innovative investigation methods, cases and community engagement with investigations.

Tactical Tech is an international NGO, with an office in Berlin, working to investigate and mitigate the impact of digital technologies on society.
Tactical Tech is currently developing educational materials to train journalists, human rights defenders, and civil society on leading investigations, in particular to combat misinformation via investigation and verification of information, with an emphasis on digital security. The materials will be geared toward those living in Latin America, Sub-Saharan Africa, MENA, and Southeast Asia.
We are inviting experienced Researcher/Writers who have a strong understanding of digital investigative techniques to contribute to creating written learning material about a variety of topics related to conducting online investigations and verifying online information. The role also includes researching the latest developments in these topics, particularly in the country contexts listed above. Topics include:

Tactical Tech is seeking partners to work with us to deliver a new project that explores the topics of European youth, technology, culture and critical thinking. What the Future Wants will be based on our award-winning project <a href="https://theglassroom.org/">The Glass Room</a>, which has so far been hosted at over 170 events in over 40 countries. Using various creative and educational formats, we will work alongside young people, their educators and organisations and institutions that support young people, to create a public intervention and accompanying educational curricula that ultimately answers the question: what are the demands that young people have of the digital environment they inhabit and will inherit?

<h2>Partnership criteria</h2>
This partnership call is specifically for key partners who will help to develop and deliver this project. As a key parter you will be responsible for: working with Tactical Tech to establish co-development working groups with young people (aged 14-18) in your country; establishing a network of local hosts in your country (up to 5) such as schools libraries and youth groups; distributing training module materials to local groups to host their own exhibition with the support of Tactical Tech; and promoting the project with communication and outreach activities.
In order to apply, applicants must:

<li>be based in Europe, and working predominantly in Europe*</li>
<li>have existing programmes or projects that are for young people (in the range of 14-18 years)</li>
<li>engage young people in critical thinking about social, political or cultural topics</li>

<h2>FAQs</h2>
Can I apply if I’m an individual working with young people?
No. You can only apply on behalf of a registered organization or institution with non-profit or charitable status. If you work with young people and you’d like to be involved in the project then we would encourage you to get in touch. There will be many others ways to collaborate with us on this project, for example you could host a What the Future Wants in your country or you could be part of our educational curricula testing.
Can I apply as a young person or on behalf of a youth-led initiative?
If you are applying on behalf of a registered organization or institution with non-profit or charitable status then you’re eligible to apply. If you’re applying as a young individual then unfortunately you’re not eligible to be a key partner. However we would still encourage you to get in touch as we will be looking for young people to work with us on developing content.
Do I need to be working with young people on issues relating to technology and society?
It is not necessary for you to be working exclusively on digital topics, however we will be seeking partners who enable young people to think critically about society.
How much support will I receive as a key partner?
Partners will receive support from Tactical Tech and where necessary can also receive up to 4000 Euro for costs incurred. This will be reviewed on a case by case basis. Costs for translation and distribution will be covered by Tactical Tech. As this amount will not cover all of the costs associated with being a partner, we’re looking for partners who will not rely on this partnership as a sole source of funding and who have the resources and capacity to carry out the work.
Do we need to dedicate a full-time member of staff to this partnership?
This partnership should complement your existing programme for the year and therefore should not require a dedicated member of staff. There will be regular check-ins and short periods of more time-intensive work such as translation of materials (or translation co-ordination), setting up co-development workshops alongside Tactical Tech and training the local hosts.
What is the difference between a local host and a key partner?
A key partner will be the main point of contact with Tactical Tech, working closely with us to develop, translate and distribute the materials. There will up to five key partners working in five countries in Europe. Each key partner will select up to five local hosts from their country.
The local hosts will set up the What the Future Wants events in their community. They can be schools, libraries, museums, galleries, community centres, or anywhere where young people go to learn or access content.
Will the project still go ahead if the Coronavirus pandemic makes it impossible to have in person events?
Yes. Tactical Tech have adapted the Glass Room project so that it can be shown in both digital and hybrid formats. Whilst it is planned that these exhibitions will be in person events, we can also explore digital or hybrid events instead if necessary.
When will this project take place?
This project starts immediately and will run until Summer 2022. The What the Future Wants public intervention will be launched in February 2022 and events will be hosted across Europe between February and May 2022. The majority of the key partner work will take place in 2021 including co-development, sourcing and training of local hosts and translation of materials.
What language(s) do I need for this partnership?
The partnership collaboration and coordination will be in English, so you need to have good written and spoken English so that we can effectively communicate. The exhibition materials themselves will be translated into the key partner language and the the key partners will be responsible for communicating with the local hosts.
How will the co-development with youth work?
Tactical Tech, with support from key partners, will set up co-development working groups whereby young people from each country can contribute to various stages of the project, from development to outreach. Each group will be asked to address two questions 1) what issues do young people face today in their digital environment and what concerns them about the future? and 2) how can we use this intervention to address these issues? Building off previous youth workshops and research, Tactical Tech will create a co-development framework to guide these discussions and ensure that the outcomes are fed directly back into the project.

The organisation is entering a new strategic period in 2020 and we are excited to add new Board Members to join us on a voluntary basis in building a strong and effective organisation moving forward.\
We are currently seeking three new Supervisory Board Members whose role will focus on supporting Tactical Tech’s work with their experience and knowledge in one or more of the following areas:

<li>Youth and technology 
The next generation of technology users are more informed, politically aware and want to make different decisions about their relationships with technology. We want to support the younger generation to make more informed choices and to be able to determine what they expect from the way technology is present in their lives. 
The role as a Board Member in this sphere is best suited for someone with an experience in youth work, youth leaders, community leaders, professionals working in various non-profits, social enterprises or CSR programmes focused on young audiences.</li>
<li>Technology and politics 
We are working towards understanding and responding to the mechanics of data-driven influence and its impact on individuals, communities and societies, including power structures and democratic processes. 
This Board Member role is best suited to someone with a background in technology and innovation, research and academia, politically oriented non-profits who wants to see significant change in the tech industry.</li>
<li>Culture and politics 
Tactical Tech brings a unique creative approach to demystifying technology and understanding how to communicate this to different audiences with a political framing. 
We are looking for professionals from the design, art or culture sector, with a focus on and understanding of critical and engaged art that is participatory and prioritises public engagement. </li>
<li>Fundraising and socially-oriented business models 
We are looking for Board Members with extensive non-profit and social enterprise fundraising expertise, in-depth knowledge of various business models and organisational development, with a proven interest and successful track record.</li>
</ul>
Successful candidates will need experience in one of these four areas.
To be eligible for appointment 
1. Any candidate will join the Board in their personal capacity and not as a representative of an organisation. 
2. Any candidate must declare any potential conflicts of interest, and anything else that might affect their eligibility.
Essential Requirements 
1. At least 10 years professional experience with a track record of excellence in executive-level management or leadership position in a non profit organisation, foundation, social enterprise or equivalent initiative, in line with the thematic areas of that call. 
2. An active and in-depth understanding of one of our two main audiences. 
3. Experience in fundraising and a strong existing network of contacts to funders, such as philanthropists and foundations, inter-governmental bodies, social investment, or arts and technology sectors. 
4. Familiarity with finance, legal and governance requirements of a non-profit is a definite advantage. 
5. An active knowledge of and interest in our work. 
6. An international outlook and experience of working in different contexts. 
7. A strong commitment to our mission and values. 
8. Trustworthy, extremely grounded and personable. 
When electing new Supervisory Board Members, the existing Supervisory Board and the Management Board will give due consideration to ensure that the composition of the Board reflects the diversity of the Tactical Tech team and our work.
Responsibilities include 
1. Provides support to the Management Board on advancing Tactical Tech’s work, development of fundraising opportunities and connects Tactical Tech with a network of supporters. 
2. Attendance at formal board meetings, twice a year. 
3. Availability to take part in occasional less formal consultations and meetings in between board meetings to provide ad hoc support on specific organisational challenges or opportunities as and when needed. 
4. Oversight of Tactical Tech’s strategy. 
5. Acts as an Ambassador for the organisation. 
6. Review of interim results, statements, organisational reports and annual audits. 
Tactical Tech’s Board 
1. Consists of five highly experienced leaders from a non-profit and social entrepreneurial background. 
2. Governs Tactical Tech in compliance with its mission, vision, organisational values and internal working regulations in line with German and Dutch Law. 
3. Focuses on strategy and governance rather than day-to-day operations. 
4. Supports the sustainability, stability and reach of the organisation. 
5. Provides advice on how Tactical Tech should respond to emerging issues outside of the strategic plan and supports the development of new areas of work in line with Tactical Tech’s mission and business model. 
6. Provides legal, policy and financial advice to ensure compliance with laws and regulations and oversees the governance, health and wellbeing of the organisation. 
7. Supervises the Management Board and appoints an Executive Director.

Tactical Tech is looking to partner with like-minded organisations to outreach, translate, contextualise and co-create existing and new content around our research on digital political campaign techniques, particularly the report '<a href="https://tacticaltech.org/#/news/personal-data-political-persuasion">Personal Data: Political Persuasion. Inside the Influence Industry. How it works</a>'.
The report is a collection of research pieces, each of which highlights a specific digital political campaigning method that uses voters’ personal data. Each chapter features a description of the method, technique or tool as well as examples from around the world of how it was used in a recent election.
The collection of research <a href="https://ourdataourselves.tacticaltech.org/chapters/dap-ii-methods">chapters</a> is based on original desk research by Tactical Tech’s Data &#x26; Politics team and informed by the research findings conducted by our <a href="https://ourdataourselves.tacticaltech.org/chapters/dap-ii-country-studies">international partners</a>.

Much of the conversation on digital election influence focuses on Facebook and fake news, but Tactical Tech’s report details how frequently overlooked factors like data breaches, geolocation information, smart TVs, campaign apps and chat bots are part of the digital election influence ecosystem. To help raise awareness of the different mechanisms through which personal data is used to influence elections around the world, outreach partners will distribute Tactical Tech’s original research to their local communities and target audiences and/or embed elements of Tactical Tech’s work into their existing outreach materials and strategies. Outreach partners should be trusted sources in their respective communities with a strong reputation and reach. In order to make its research more accessible globally, Tactical Tech is looking to partner with organisations from around the world to both translate and outreach Data &#x26; Politics’ existing content. In consultation with the Data &#x26; Politics team, partners will identify relevant resources (see list below) to translate that are most applicable to their local political context and of most interest to their local audience. The number of resources to translate is dependent on the partner’s capacity and available time. Along with the translation, partners commit to circulating the new translations via their organisation’s outreach channels and networks.

<h2>Contextualisation Partnerships</h2>
Contextualisation Partners effectively author their own version of the "Personal Data: Political Persuasion" report with support from Tactical Tech, focusing on their respective geographies or political issues. By doing so, they illustrate the extent to which the technologies outlined in the report’s chapters affect their local, regional or national political processes through contextualisation and documentation. One contextualisation partner, for example, might find evidence of five major methodologies in their home country, while another might find evidence of the technologies described in every chapter. Note that all formal political processes are eligible for analysis here, allowing partners to document the application of these technologies in elections and political issue campaigns (e.g., referendums, recalls, inner-party campaigning).
<h2>Co-Creation Partnerships</h2>
Co-Creation Partnerships are the most involved and resource-intensive of the four possible partnerships. For this reason, preference will be given to strong localisation partners and to partners in compelling circumstances (for example, those in places with an upcoming election in which a technology that uses personal data is in widespread use). Co-Creation Partnerships will be comprised of partners, Tactical Tech’s Data &#x26; Politics team, and depending on the technology at hand, a technical specialist. Some examples might include:
A local group could partner with Tactical Tech’s Data &#x26; Politics team and a mobile app security engineer to explore how a popular presidential candidate’s app is collecting and using the personal data of its users (relating to chapter 6 of the report).
A partner might work with the Data &#x26; Politics team and a digital marketing expert to study political ads on search engines (chapter 10).
An environmental rights group could work with Tactical Tech and a web developer to track a government agency or candidate’s experiments with slogans regarding climate change and public transportation services (chapter 5).
These partnerships aim to investigate important questions and collaboratively develop strategies for election monitoring as part of a larger effort to help local groups across the world examine and monitor digital interference in their own elections.
<h2>Who?</h2>
We are looking to partner with organisations on one or more of the four different types of partnerships outlined above. We would like to work with organisations who research and/or advocate on the topics of data protection, digital rights and/or elections and democracy in the digital age. Ideally, organisations will come with a strong existing public and professional network which can be accessed to outreach the results of the partnership. The work undertaken as part of the partnership agreement preferably fits within a partner organisation’s existing strategy or project remit.
Priority will be given to local partners active in Africa, Latin America, Asia, the Pacific Islands and select countries from Eastern Europe.
There is a limited amount of funding available and will be negotiated as part of the partnership agreement.
