Brazil event: Free and Open Source Solutions

Porto Alegre - 3rd of June 2004

In cooperation with Projeto Software Livre - RS (Brazil), Privaterra (Canada), Tactical Tech has organised a meeting in Porto Alegre, Brazil.

Key people from Latin America, Europe and North America who promote Free and Open Source Solutions are invited to a one-day workshop. It will take place in Porto Alegre, parallel to DebConf, the Debian developers meeting and the International Free Software Forum - two of the most important Free and Open Source Software events on the continent.

A number of leading civil society organizations and software developers in Latin America will meet to exchange knowledge and skills and hopefully also build strong relationships between each other. During the gathering, existing initiatives - FOSS for civil society tools (software), materials, and training - will be mapped out. In particular, the aim is to strengthen collaboration around practical implementation of Free and Open Source techniques in the non-profit sector in Latin America.

The possibility of a skillshare camp along the lines of other Source events will be explored. This could bring together civil society activists, NGO technical support groups and key FOSS developers in 2005 in Latin America.
