HIV/AIDS

Tactical Tech is working with HIV/AIDS treatment advocacy organizations around the world to increase the accountability of governments with regards to their health budgets and fight for better treatment for people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA).

Monitoring government health budgets is a key element in ensuring access to HIV/AIDS treatment yet this process is extremely challenging.

Advocacy organisations are working in a number of countries to track resources available (both those coming in to the country and those allocated within national budgets), and then checking how these funds are allocated and spent in reality. The ability to effectively collect and organise information from various sources is critical to the success of these campaigns. The advocacy organisations then need the means to turn this information into action.

Tactical Tech is working with HIV/AIDS access to treatment organizations globally to develop information strategies that enhance their campaigns, through using ICT tools to coordinate networks and facilitate international advocacy messages.

For example in Kenya we are;

  • consulting to a network organisation on the use of ICTs within their campaign strategy
  • working with a local NGO-technologist to develop campaign solutions
  • exploring how mobile phones can be used to update PLWHA on treatment and resources that are supposed to be available in their community and on the positions of elected officials and those running for office

PLWHA need to be kept informed of treatments and services that should be available to them. Tactical Tech is working with HIV/AIDS access to treatment organizations to help them inform and engage PLWHA on the treatments they are entitled to.
