10 Tactics Languages
Our Spanish and Burmese language partners have produced wonderful remixes of the 10 Tactics project. There is now a 10 Tactics website in Spanish and in Burmese. The websites add to the variety of language options which the cards and film are already available in, thanks to many fantastic volunteers in different parts of the world.
The 10 Tactics project was launched in December 2009 and since then, hundreds of rights advocates from around the world have used these materials to deliver workshops for turning information into action and they have screened the 10 Tactics film to get people talking about opportunities and barriers for info-activism.
The Ibero-American Network for Sustainable Development (REDDES) first partnered with Tactical Tech in Latin America to translate the 10 Tactics film and cards and organise a number of screenings in the region. Our partnership later led to the production of a Spanish version of the 10 Tactics website and REDDES' own excellent remix of the original English 10 Tactics pack (see picture above).
REDDES is a nonprofit organisation interested in preserving and restoring ecological systems, as well as supporting communities to improve their quality of life through appropriate use of technology in a sustainable manner. With their "10 tàcticas" project, they are sharing the inspiring examples of info-activism and tips and tools with a large portion of rights advocates in the region.
The Burmese website, produced by Burma IT, is an equally important asset to the 10 Tactics project. Not very often do Burmese rights advocates have access to important information about organising and online privacy in Burmese. Providing 10 Tactics in Burmese was an important step in making this material available to those working in Burma.
A Belarusian version of the website is currently under development.
10 Tactics provides original and artful ways for rights advocates to capture attention and communicate a cause. It includes a 50-minute film documenting stories from around the world and a set of cards; with tools, tips and advice, for you to work through as you plan your own info-activism. Visit the 10 Tactics website to find out more about this.
